你是一个相信自己的人，还是一个相信标准的人？
什么是标准？
就是别人这样把事情做好了，你去够到它，你去照着做，你会得到奖励，你会成为别人眼中“合格”、甚至“优秀”的人。
一个相信标准的人，说到底，是相信他人胜过相信自己的人。
他相信标准，是用来遵守的。
而一个相信自己的人，他觉得外在的标准都不重要：
我能做到什么，我能做到多好，是我去争取，是我去定义的结果。
他相信自己，胜过相信标准。
标准，是用来打破的；破了以后，我就是新的标准。
这种对比，就像奥巴马两口子。
米歇尔说：你一个美国黑人，你不可能赢的。
奥巴马说：我不试试，我怎么知道呢？
对于米歇尔来说，他们两人的区别不仅是成功路径的区别——
什么一环扣一环的成功，还是随性洒脱的成功，这都不重要。
重要的是，米歇尔从来都不那么相信“自己”，
她更依赖达到“标准”以后，带给她的那份安全感。
从幼儿园的时候，一定要念出white那个单词，得到老师手里的金色小星星，到高中的时候，那个说她考不上普林斯顿的顾问给她带来的打击，到她不相信黑人奥巴马可以当上美国总统，到她收不到短信，就觉得总统连任一定要失败的紧张和焦虑……
在有些人的身上，我们会发现：
天生要强，跟不自信，其实一点都不矛盾。
因为要强，是要不输给那根“标准线”。
但凡有一次，我输给了“标准”，我就会立马陷入自我否定的怪圈——我会拷问自己：是不是我还不够优秀？
就像米歇尔说的：
从一些标准来看，我已经成为一个拥有权力的女性，但仍然有很多时候，我没有安全感，我感觉自己被人忽视。
